Open House Wednesday, April 24, 3:30 to 6 p.m.
Things are looking good for the Open House. We finalized details at our April 17 meeting, and tweaked the events a bit by assigning specific times as follows:
Storytime: 3:30 p.m. with Miss Marla
Library History slideshow: 4 p.m. with Bryan Dinwoody and Linda Luneack
Republic Truck presentation: 4:40 p.m. with Joe Butcher and Jim Goodspeed
Drawing for door prizes: 5:45 p.m. winners do not need to be present
What we're doing on the day of:
10 a.m. Set up, should take about an hour
2:30 p.m. Volunteers arrive at the library and get assignments
6 p.m. Clean up, should take about an hour
If you didn't sign up to work but you find you have some time to volunteer, feel free to stop by to help.
Possible change to regular Library Friends meeting time
As you probably know, a group of people have come together to restore the Ammi Wright House in Alma. It's a great cause, and it's one many of our Library Friends are supporting. But there's a slight wrinkle. Our fourth Thursday meeting time conflicts with the Wright House group meetings. People may want to attend both meetings, but can't because of the time conflict. I'm wondering if we could keep the fourth Thursday as the day we meet, but change the meeting time and make ours a little earlier.
Library funding
We've invited Curtis Dancer, the finance director for the city of Alma, to come to our June friends meeting to help us understand how the Alma Library is funded. Although all of us know how important funding the library is, most of us don't have a good understanding of how it works. If you have specific topics you'd like Curtis to address, let me know and I'll pass them along.
Friend Website
If all goes well, we'll have a preview of the Alma Library Friends website to get your feedback on at our May meeting. I've been working on it with the amazing Tash Netzley, (Alma Library cataloging assistant) who is doing a great job.
Okay, that's a wrap. Remember, come to the Open House this Wednesday, April 24th from 3:30 to 6 p.m.--and bring a friend. Or 10. Email, text, or call me (989-620-0272) if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns. Thanks!
